Photographers Sylvia A. Hosie and JerriLynn Woolley are spotlight artists
The photography of Sylvia A. Hosie and JerriLynn Woolley will be featured in a two week spotlight show for the Yaquina Art Association from June 9th to June 22, 2012. The gallery is located at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery at 789 NW Beach Drive on the Nye Beach turnaround in Newport. The gallery is open from 10-5 daily, seven days a week.
When Sylvia A. Hosie had a change in her career direction, time was freed up to devote to her photography. Sylvia loves travel and combines photography with her travel to capture beautiful images. Sylvia’s show features new work from a trip to Europe in 2011 and a trip to the Southwest this spring. Also included are photos of Lipizzan horses and the Siletz Pow Wow. A small wind carved cave in the Nevada desert produced an image Hosie is excited about. “Fire Cave” with its arch and niches appears much larger than its 30 – 36 inch height. Laying on the ground outside the cave Hosie was able to get her head, shoulders, camera and tripod in a small opening to capture this image.
Sylvia Hosie’s photo credits include Oregon Coast and Camping Life magazines, several books, calendars, and brochures. This summer she has a booth at the Waldport Wednesday Market and the Toledo Street Market (Thursdays).
JerriLynn Woolley has a passion for photography and for capturing the beauty around her. She carries her camera with her wherever she goes and loves to watch the lighting and clouds, waiting for just the right shot. JerriLynn has been the support person to the business that she and her husband own, Oregon Coast Photography, for many years but now she enjoys getting the perfect shot and being out in nature with her camera and tripod. She is dedicated to learning more about photography with the classes she is taking, lots of reading and experimenting in her post production work. JerriLynn and her husband Laren love taking off to explore this beautiful world and taking their cameras to capture it all. They love road trips, camping and hiking which go well with their love for photography.
She has won awards in the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs, Celebrate Art, and local competitions. She has been published in the Oregon Coast Magazine and Calendar 2010 & 2011, Northwest Travel Calendar 2011, Central Oregon Coast Calendar, Oregon Coast Passport, and Discover Lincoln City. JerriLynn is the publicity chair for the Yaquina Art Association, print chair for the YAA Photographers and bookkeeper for the Pacific Artist Alliance Co-op Gallery. Many of her photographs can be seen on their website at www.oregoncoastphotography.com.
