YAA Spotlights Colored Pencil Class and Patti Johnson’s Art
The Yaquina Art Association Gallery will feature displays from artist, Patti Johnson and the Colored Pencil Class. The two week spotlight show will run from Feb. 25-March 2 at the gallery located at 789 NW Beach Drive open from 11 am to 4 pm in Newport.
The colored pencil class is open to the public and is headed up by Jackie Treat. The class meets on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am in the upstairs classroom above the VAC. Leader, Jackie Treat enjoys sharing her talents with students. She has been an artist all her life and did oil painting until the past 6 years when she has been working in colored pencil work, concentrating on animals, flowers, landscapes and still life subjects.
Artist, Patti Johnson will display many of her oils and acrylics showing artistic talent that has progressed since her childhood. She currently facilitates the Oil/acrylic class at the Newport Visual Art Center. She has taught classes on old master painting and currently does murals. Her work has been distributed all over the United States as she traveled with her husband who was in the Navy. She has three grown children and four grandchildren. She loves to paint anything beautiful and loves doing portraits.
Patti’s mother taught her art from the time she was quite young and her father who is also an artist took her to the Graphic Sketch club in PA as a child. She began doing oil portraits in her teens. Mural work has kept Patti busy over the past 5 years. They may be seen at the First Baptist Church in Newport, the Toldeo Foursquare Church and the Mini-Mart in Siletz as well as in private homes. Patti, who resided in South Beach considers it a privilege to use her gift of art for others to enjoy.
