Yaquina Art Association Artist Showcase walls, Angie Thomas and Diane Pinizzotto, August 31- September 13, 2024
Angie Thomas
To paint and explore and create through various mediums- oil, acrylic, watercolor pencils, watercolor, mixed media, and gourd drums gives me peace and joy.
Excitement ignites as I begin a new piece of art. I will forever be a student of art and I’m grateful for this gift given that I may share with the world.
In 2013 I began to paint with a Plein Air Group from BAAA (Bay Area Artists Association) in Coos Bay, Oregon. After moving to Newport, Oregon, I became a proud member of YAA (Yaquina Art Association.)
There is a story in each piece I create. Sometimes it’s my story embedded in multiple brush strokes, values, colors, and design. But the story is not always mine but is your story or someone you know. Can you hear it?
My art journey has had lots of experimenting, twists & turns, dormant seasons, and for sure perseverance. What a process that exists for an artist. I am proud to say, “I am an Artist.”
Diane Pinizzotto
Diane Pinizzotto’s colorful show includes oil paintings ranging from a Model T truck to the majestic blue ocean and everything in between. Pinizzotto said, “I love nature and all of the colors that bring it alive. And I love working with oils! This medium allows me the freedom to express what I am feeling, whether I am looking at the depth of the ocean, the smile on a child’s face, the beauty of a forest or a humble man-made object,” she concluded, ”oil painting to me is like writing poetry.”
Having taken painting classes for over 20 years, plus her inspiration to paint since childhood, has given Pinizzotto the opportunity to hone her technique in painting with oils. Her education, coupled with her natural creative ability shows well in her YAA exhibit.
Pinizzotto has lived in Lincoln County for 32 years. Her grandmother lived in Seaside where she learned to appreciate the sights, smell and rhyme of nature, especially the ocean.
