Yaquina Art Association artist show spotlight features photographers Kim Cuc Tran and Ted Crego, Aug 3rd – 16th, 2024
Local photographers Kim Cuc Tran and Ted Crego will have their two week spotlight show at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery, opening this Saturday, August 3rd, 2024.
Both artists have extensive experience capturing the moment that lingers in the mind with their cameras. They are also married to each other with both past careers in engineering. Together they have widely traveled in Asia, Western Europe, New Zealand, North/Central/South America, Jordan, Egypt, and Tanzania. Expect to see images familiar as our Oregon coast as well.
Their styles and choice of photos are much different. While they photographed the same locations, it is rare they composed the same image.
Kim’s mantra is, “Simplify, simplify, simplify.” This mantra has served her well in the process of capturing and creating inspiring images. She enjoys shooting abstracts, close-ups, birds, flowers, architecture, and landscape which results in creating fine art photos to share with viewers.
Ted says he enjoys finding images that others may overlook. His recent work included panoramas and High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos. He believes there is always something new to learn in photography. This is essentially true with the myriad of software programs available for post processing.
Both Crego and Tran’s work have received numerous awards in regional and national competitions. You can find some of their awarded images posted on Columbia Council of Camera Clubs website (columbiacouncil.clubexpress.com) and Nature Photographers of The Pacific North West website (nppnw.org)
Both artists live in Newport and are active officers of the Yaquina Art Association Photographers (yaaphotographers.org) whose mission is to encourage and help members to share, teach, learn and grow as photographers.
