Pam Parker and Charlotte Carter are YAA Spotlight Artists
Pam Parker and Charlotte Carter are the featured spotlight artists at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery from August 20 to Sept. 2, 2011. These local artists will display paintings featuring watercolors and pastels. The YAA gallery is located at 789 NW Beach Dr. just west of the Visual Arts Center at the Nye Beach Turnaround in Newport Oregon. Gallery hours are 11 AM to 4 PM daily. Their phone number is 541-265-5133. This is a non profit organization made up of artists from Lincoln County.
Pam Parker enjoys trying to create a watercolor that speaks to you differently each time you see it. The landscapes often depict a wonderful place that is a little different than any place we know. Pam also enjoys pyrography, wood burning on driftwood, myrtle wood, or maple. This artwork is inspired by the places and animals of the Northwest. Pam has a minor in art history, and she enjoys teaching watercolor classes both for the Yaquina Art Association in Newport and for the Artist Studio Association in Lincoln City. Her work can be seen at Ocean Beaches Glass, Earthworks Galleries, Reedsport Myrtle Wood Gallery, Sticks and Stones in Florence, ASA in Lincoln City, and the current show in Yaquina Art Gallery.
Charlotte Carter’s paintings try to capture flickering light and colorful tones in nature. She works in pastel and watercolor mediums. Charlotte has been a graphic artist by career and enjoys using pastels, ceramics, sculpture and watercolor to create her artwork. She enjoys giving back to the community as she teaches classes on Thursdays from 10 am to 12 noon at the Visual Art Center upstairs classroom.
