Yaquina Art Gallery Spotlight Wall Show featuring the photography of John Willams and the artwork of Alana Williams – August 6th to August 19th
In a two-week Spotlight Wall Show from August 6th to August 19th, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the photography of John Williams and the artwork of Alana Williams. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 5 pm every day.
John Williams’ photography reflects his attraction to coastal subjects having growing up on the Mendocino Coast in Northern California in a commercial fishing family. He became interested in photography in his teens but it was observing Ansel Adams photographing the Coast of Mendocino County that influenced him the most. The techniques that Adams used changed the way John approaches his own picture making. After a 40-year career as an Electrical Engineer he is now able to devote his time to photography and woodturning. He has been turning for more than 30 years and many of his wood pieces are on display in the YAA gallery.
Alana Williams has always been creative; beginning with pottery, then later moving on to decorative painting. Several years ago she joined the Yaquina Art Association and took her first watercolor classes. Since then, she has been devoting all her time painting in watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. She is showing several examples of each in this Spotlight Show.
