Yaquina Art Gallery Spotlight Wall Show featuring the artwork of Dian Svendson and the YAA Colored Pencil Class – September 28th to October 11th
In a two week Spotlight Wall Show from September 28th to October 11th, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the artwork of Dian Svendson and the YAA Colored Pencil Class. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 4 pm every day.
Dian Svendson is calling her first YAA Spotlight Show, “That Which Brings Me Joy!” Dian is a retired International Management Consultant (35 years in 35 countries) and Art Therapy Counselor (9 years) who has turned to art throughout her life to help her better understand herself and the world. In her capacity as an Art Therapy Counselor, she used art to help patients and clients address mental health issues in an inpatient psychiatric unit and in private practice. She knows through her academic studies and professional experience that “art saves lives.” Retired now, she focuses on her own art, primarily watercolors. She hopes that viewing her paintings brings as much joy to others as the creative process brings to her. Her colorful Abstract Realism is heavily influenced by her extensive cross-cultural experiences, love of animals, and spirit of discovery.
Dian studied art at Montgomery College and Marylhurst University. Her work has appeared in community art shows, student shows at Montgomery College and Marylhurst University, the Nye Beach Banner Project, and the Yaquina Arts Association Gallery in Newport.
Dian lives in both Newport and Philomath, Oregon
The YAA Colored Pencil Class takes place every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at our new learning space, located in the 1st Baptist Classroom behind the church at 208 NW 6th in Newport (next door to Bike Newport). All Yaquina Art Association classes are free and the Colored Pencil Class welcomes all levels of experience.
