Yaquina Art Gallery Pedestal Spotlight Show featuring the artwork of Jane Hodgkins – April 20th to May 3rd
In a two week Pedestal Spotlight Show from April 20th to May 3rd, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the artwork of Jane Hodgkins . The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 4 pm every day.
Jane Hodgkins will be featuring her beautiful handmade art books and journals in her Spotlight Show. For the past twenty years, Jane has attended many of the Paper Arts Festival workshops learning the art of paper-making, paper marbling, eco-dying, tie-dying, nature printing, and book making. She has also attended printmaking classes at Oregon Coast Community College, paper-making, and bookmaking classes at Sitka, and clay classes at the Yaquina Art Association. The books and journals featured in the showcase highlight the many art mediums from these classes.
The books and journals in the exhibit include pop-up and accordion books featuring linocut and silkscreen prints, journals made of handmade paper and decorated with beach agates, journals with leather covers, metallic paper covers, and clay covers. Just for fun there is also a collection of notebooks made from recycled paper bags.
Hodgkins notes that she loves holding and paging through books. She adds that “when you run out of wall space books are a great way to present and store your artwork.
