Two week Spotlight Show featuring the art of Catherine Hingson

YAA Spotlight

A two week Spotlight Show, featuring the art of Catherine Hingson, will be in the Yaquina Art Association Gallery from March 25th to April 7th.

Catherine grew up in the Pacific Northwest and has always had a love for the natural beauty here. As a child some of her fondest memories were of going to her grandmother’s beach house, and that influence is seen in her frequent choice to incorporate coastal related themes into her work. She is known for her large, colorful landscape paintings of Pacific Northwest scenes, often being described as impressionistic. She often likes to capture the convergence of nature and the man-made environment. She enjoys working in multiple mediums, including oil, watercolor, acrylics, and pastel.

Catherine chose the name Playful Paintbrush as her studio name because she feels that when she is in her creative zone and “present in the moment,” the inspiration flows through her to the dancing paintbrush. The bold colors she uses are a reflection of her vibrant spirit. Catherine Hingson believes that we all have an inner creative spirit and that we actually need to play! As a teacher and gentle guide she facilitates others to find their wild abandon and freedom to express themselves through paint.
