Kate Alexander, Richard LaFond and Alice LaFond, all of Seal Rock will be spotlighted artists
Kate Alexander, Richard LaFond and Alice LaFond, all of Seal Rock will be spotlighted artists in the Yaquina Art Association Showcase. Their show is from Nov.12 through Nov. 25th at the YAA Gallery in Nye Beach. The gallery is located at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport and open from 11 to 4 pm daily.
Kate Alexander is a native Oregonian living in Seal Rock. She has been painting for about 10 years. Her favorite subject is the ocean because of its many moods; calmness, ferocity, sweetness, threatening, sunlit, dark, quiet, and very noisy. It changes every time you look at it. Kate really enjoys the Newport art community. She says “The diversity of the art venues is enormous. So many avenues to explore. This town has the friendliest artists. They all root for one another, help one another. They teach. They mentor. Newport is a wonderful place to be an artist!”
Richard, a photographer for over 50 years, retired fourteen years ago and moved to Seal Rock, Richard has found that, although portraiture is his favorite, he enjoys shooting ocean and beach scenes, boats and lighthouses, and flowers.
Richard”s wife, Alice, has been taking colored pencil classes and workshops for 7 years, painting all subjects.. Alice never loses enthusiasm for her pencil art and finds it exciting when a finished piece comes out looking like a watercolor or oil painting.
