YAA Spotlight Show Features Artists Lila Passarelli and Phyllis O’Boyle

YAA Spotlight

YAA will offer a 2 week spotlight show open to the public at 789 NW Beach Drive daily from 11-4.  The show featuring the artwork of Lila Passereli and Phyllis O’Boyle runs from April 30-May 13, 2016 in Newport Oregon at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery in Nye Beach.

Lila Passarelli has been a member of the YAA since 1977. She began her lessons with Bill Runyan in the pen and ink class, added the oil painting a few months later. After a couple years she joined the watercolor class that was taught by Harry Niemela.

Lila is especially fond of animals as subjects, although the Oregon lighthouses, seascapes, landscapes, and an occasional flower painting can be found in her studio. Lila has had many shows over the years and some of her work can be seen at Oregon Coast Eye Care. Lila also does Encaustic painting using Crayola crayons to make unique paintings with melted crayons.

Phyllis O’Boyle is a retired Lincoln County School District teacher.  After retirement, she began taking  watercolor lessons from her husband who owns a gallery, Viewpoint Gallery, in Waldport, Oregon.

She loves the local scenery, vegetation and birds.  That seems to be the focus for many of her paintings.  She grew up on a farm in the Mid West and a love of barns and primitive ranch buildings also inspire her.  The abstract paintings of Monet are a style that she enjoys exploring.  Mixed media intrigues her so she is incorporating pencil, marker and acrylic paint into her watercolor paintings.  She loves the freedom and movement of watercolor.
