YAA Spotlight

There will be a two week spotlight show featuring the artwork of Jill Keck and her two daughters, Elise and Camille from Nov. 29 through December 12, 2014 at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery. The gallery is open 7 days a week from 11 am to 4 pm at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport, Oregon.

Jill Keck, along with her daughters, Elise and Camille, will be hanging a variety of mediums. “Choosing one medium to create with is like choosing a favorite color. I’ll have a little photography, acrylics, watercolor and yes, soap… Everything will be based on something near and dear to me. I have been interested in art since I can remember. I used to come home from preschool and watch drawing shows on PBS and follow along. For me, art is an expression of emotion. I have 2 little girls and I want to pass on my love for creating. I named my business after them (Camille and Elise = Calise Soapworks & Such).” “My favorite part of drawing is you can do whatever you want. There are no rules for drawing. It all comes from your imagination,” says Elise. “I like to cheer up people with pictures. I like to draw stuff because I want to be an artist when I grow up,” says Camille. You can find Jill and her work displayed at Calise Soapworks & Such at the Newport Saturday Farmers Market, the Sunday Lincoln City Farmers Market and online at  www.calisesoapworks.com. She will also have her soaps and jewelry for sale at the Yaquina Art Gallery gift shop. Jill moved here in 2010 from Arizona. Originally, she is from West Virginia and has also lived in Pennsylvania and Florida. “I am a part of each of my states and I have enjoyed the journey.”

The Gallery is also holding an arts and crafts sale of holiday items as well as prints, cards, photography, jewelry, non-framed art work and other items appropriate for holiday gift giving. The gallery is a non profit outlet for the benefit of the association and community to further the pursuit and appreciation of the visual arts and crafts.
