Two week Artisan Spotlight featuring the art of Lanie Shimer
There will be a two week Artisan Spotlight Show at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery from Aug. 2 through the 15th featuring the art of Lanie Shimer. Located at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport, Oregon, the show is open from 10 am to 5 pm daily.
Lanie Shimer loves working with brass and copper. She is one of the few women who enjoys working with a torch and welder. She has been doing her art for the last 13years. She loves working with her hands and combines that with walks on the beach looking for those perfect pieces of driftwood to compliment her work. Often her inspiration for the art comes from the driftwood itself. She loves focusing her art on trees and branches as well and sculpts the brass and copper to look like that.
Lanie’s work can be seen at the Newport Farmers Markets, the Yaquina Art Gallery at the Whales Tail on Bay Blvd in Newport
