Oil and Acrylic Class
Beginners to Advanced artists are invited to attend the Oil and Acrylic class that is held on Tuesday mornings from 9-11 am in the upstairs classroom of the Visual Art Center. Artists are encouraged to do their own thing, bring their own supplies and help will be given if any is wanted. The class facilitator is Patti Johnson with the help of Lila Passerelli. There are approximately 10 students that show up regularly and visitors are welcome.
Comments from class members include the following, “Painting is a part of my being, I have always had a facination with painting.” She has been influenced by wonderful people and artsists including Bill Runyan, class facilitator Patti Johnson, her mother and an elderly lady named Hazel. Another class member said that she began painting as a child since both parents were artists. She is painting a mural for her church and she says painting is “satisfying” with portraits being her favorite. One of the class members loved art from high school age on, especially abstracts but she never had time to pursue it until she came to the coast and ever since, it has been her love. She says, “Painting takes you to another world.”
Other classes taught through the Yaquina Art Association are watercolors on Mondays from 9-11 am, China Painting and clay work in the afternoons on Tuesdays, Colored Pencil classes on Wednesday mornings from 9-11 am and Pastels on Thursday mornings from 10-12 noon.
