Ken Hartwell
I have worked in many fields from landscaping, to gasket cutting, accounting, photography & printing of all kinds.
The most enjoyable part of my art is sharing it with future artists from kindergarten to the retired. After having a major accident and almost dying my goal in life has been to give back my experience and love for art to everyone.
The art that I make is done in a variety of mediums, most of which are very tactile. My show features handmade fiber art, prints made from clay images rather than block prints or wood cuts, and hand built clay items. I also have some photos which feature close up looks at common items found in the bay front.
Mary Young
Mary Young has been creating glass art for eight years. She loves the endless possibilities working with glass and is excited to execute new ideas and designs. The interest in glass started with her Father, who bought a kiln to experiment with. It just took off from there: exploring, trying new techniques, just playing around.
Mary has lived in Newport for six years. She grew up in Seattle, WA and lived in Portland, OR. before moving to the beautiful Oregon Coast. She has been a member of the Yaquina Art Association since the Autumn of 2006. Right now she is currently involved in displaying all the 3-D art in the Yaquina Art Gallery, but has served as Secretary and a board member in the last few years. She feels it’s important to give back to a wonderful organization like this.
Under the name Whimsy Art Glass, Mary sells her glass work in the Newport Farmer’s Market, the Lincoln City Farmer’s Market, and the Lincoln County Fairgrounds Farmers Market. Her artwork can also be found at the Ocean Beaches Gallery in Seal Rock, OR, the Sparks Gallery in Depoe Bay, Calise Soapworks and Such in the Taft area of Lincoln City, online at Synchroncity101arts.com, and in her Etsy shop whimsyartglass.etsy.com .
