Yaquina Art Association announces Scholarship Winner
Christy Turner was awarded the Yaquina Art Association Scholarship at Oregon State University for the school year 2011/2012.Christy Turner was born in Walla Walla, Washington in 1989. She earned her BFA from Oregon State University in 2012, specializing in printmaking and bookmaking, and prior to graduation was awarded the Joyce Dickerson Award in Printmaking. Though she works primarily in relief printing, Turner also embroiders, and often combines both mediums in artist books. In her free time Turner is an avid scuba diver–a hobby that presents itself in her printmaking work, which often involves sea life.” Christy Turners work will be available for purchase and viewing at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery beginning on July 9th, 2012 through the month of July. The YAA gallery is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 5 pm and is located off the Nye Beach Turnaround at 789 NW Beach Dr. in Newport.
