People’s Choice Winner Announced
Sheryl Eldridge’s photograph of the Yaquina Bay bridge at sunset won the People’s Choice Vote for the All Member show during the month of March in the Visual Art Center. Sheryl Eldridge got her first SLR camera in 1977, and took an art class to learn how to use it. She learned darkroom processing, and had her own darkroom equipment for a few years. While she mostly takes photos as a hobby and to record family events, she has also photographed friends’ weddings, work events (for the Newport Public Library), theater productions, and the Newport Celtic Festival and Highland Games. She started sharing photos on Flickr in 2006, and joined the Yaquina Art Association Photographers (YAAP) in 2012. She credits YAAP for helping her view her photographs more critically, and for answering questions and teaching techniques that have helped her learn new skills. Her new favorite subject to photograph is her two month old granddaughter, Luna, who lives in Seattle.
