Yaquina Art Association Photographers Guest Presenter, Astro-Photographer, Greg Marshall
Photographers and the public are invited to enjoy upcoming guest speakers on Nov. 5th and Nov. 19th in the upstairs meeting room of the Visual Art Center at 7:00 pm. in Newport, Oregon. The YAAP (Yaquina Art Association Photographers) often invite guests to share their expertise. Photographer Greg Marshall will do a presentation on Astro-Photography on Nov. 5th and Donna McCoy will do a presentation on Macro Photography on Nov. 19th.
Greg Marshall loves photographing galaxies, quasars and nebulae from his backyard in northern Clark County after moving there a couple years ago with his wife. He is often found with his camera and telescope in his home observatory in La Center. Marshall built a closet-sized observatory next to his house, he rolls back the roof on the 8×10 foot shed and spends nights there with a computer, telescope and camera, taking pictures of the flashes and gases of outer space. He thinks of composition and orientation, which many other astro-photographers don’t.
By training, Marshall is an electronics engineer and computer-imaging expert, but the stars have led him into art. Retired from his work designing the brains of copiers, he spends long nights now focusing his attention upward and beyond. That inevitably turns a mind to spiritual dimensions and philosophy, he said. For more information about YAAP visit the website at http://www.yaaphotographyclub.com/.
