The Yaquina Art Association Photographers will be showing their fine art photography in the month of April at the Visual Art Center. The show will open on Wednesday, April 4th, 2012 and will run through April 29, 2012 from 11 am to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
Over 20 photographers will be bringing in some of their best photography for show and purchase. There will be an opening reception for the public and a chance to meet with the photographers as well as enjoy refreshments on April 6th, 2012 from 4-7 pm.
The YAAP is a group that meets together to help members learn and share their photography and knowledge. The club meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at 7:00 pm in the upstairs classroom of the VAC. YAAP is a member of the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs and submit photographs monthly to competitions digitally and by prints to other photography clubs in parts of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California (Columbia Council of Camera Clubs).
The club has a monthly challenge topic with a chance to bring in 5 photos depicting a certain topic, for example water, fog, mountains or reflections. The meetings are set up with a question and answer period to help anyone with questions on photography. The club schedules field trips and programs giving members and the community a chance to work together to improve their skills and to discuss various topics of art or technology. All skill levels are encouraged, from beginner to expert.
As members of the Yaquina Art Association the photographers can also have work next door in the Yaquina Art Association gallery. You can find a photographers wall of small prints for $20 and under as well as framed and unframed photographs in the gallery.
This year’s officers are: President Ted Crego, Vice President Sylvia Hosie, Secretary Clint Ayers, Treasurer Bob Highfill, Print Chariman JerriLynn Woolley, and Electronic Image Chair KimCuc Tran.
