YAQUINA ART ASSOCIATION ARTIST PEDESTAL SHOW Terry Persson July 13-26, 2024

Exhibition

Terry (Elfering) Persson, Retired from working in Lincoln County for over 25 years; working for Developmental Disabilities Services Lincoln County, Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians , and Girl Scout to name a few. A native Oregonian, grew up in Willowcreek Oregon, a very rural part of Eastern Oregon. She was raised by immigrate parents( father Dutch, mother Italian), where learning to sew and be creative was a way to make money go farther, not a hobby. Making what you needed and mending what you had.

Terry was able to spend time being creative for joy of creating for the first time at Southern Oregon University in the costume shop at Theater Department. There she learned to make customs and accessories for the college plays.  Creativity was once again a needed skill to help money stretch, once she became a military wife. Making clothing for her family and items for her home, as she travel around the world with her husband, whom was in the Army.

Since retiring she has finally had to time to explore her creative side. Having the time and the resources to explore. The joy of creating has lead her down several paths. She enjoys taking things that might be thrown away and making it into something useful again. Making things earth and people friendly.
