Visual Art Center presents the YAA All Member Show

Approximately 100 members of the Yaquina Art Association are invited to participate in the YAA All Member Show that will be held in the Runyan Gallery of the Visual Art Center from March 1-27th, 2013. Members are encouraged to bring one item of the type of medium they choose to display for the March show.There will be an opening reception to meet the artists on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 5-7 pm at the VAC located at 777 NW Beach Dr in the Nye Beach Turnaround in Newport, Oregon. Refreshments will be served. Artists are encouraged to bring in their original finished art work on Wed. Feb. 27. The Visual Art Center gallery is open Tues. through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm.

The art from this show comes down on March 27th and artists who sign up will be part of the Arts and Crafts show from Friday, March 29-Sunday, March 31, 2013. This is an annual sale of both framed and unframed art. This year they are adding a rummage sale of unwanted art supplies and art donated by past scholarship recipients as part of their scholarship requirements. There will be approximately 100 items donated by previous artists for sale and art books as well as photographic equipment. Proceeds from the sale of the art works will be earmarked for the scholarship fund. The rummage sale will be on the 3rd floor of the VAC during the same time period as the Arts and Crafts Sale.

The purpose of the Yaquina Art Association “Shall be to teach and further the pursuit and appreciation of the visual arts and crafts in every possible way, and to exhibit and provide an outlet for the benefit of the association and membership, as well as the community, and not for the benefit of any individual.” The YAA will also have arts and crafts available for sale next door at the Yaquina Art Asociation Gallery located at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport. The YAA teaches classes regulary in the upstairs classroom of the Visual Art Center as follows: Monday: Watercolor 9-11 am, Tuesday Oil & Acrylic 9-11 am, China Painting 1-3:30 pm, Clay 12:30-3:30 pm, Wednesday Color pencil/drawing 9-11:30 am., Thursday Pastels 10 am to 12 noon.
