Spotlight Show features Richard LaFond and Carol Summers
There will be a two week spotlight show at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery from Sept. 16-Sept. 30, 2012. Featured artists are Photographer, Richard LaFond and Watercolorist, Carol Summers. The gallery is open from 11 am to 4 pm daily for viewing and purchasing framed and unframed art as well as a variety of other art including cards, crafts, magnets, 3D art, photography, wall art, woodwork, metal art, china, etc. The gallery is located at 789 NW Beach Drive in the Nye Beach Turnaround in Newport, Oregon.
Richard LaFond
Seal Rock Photographer, Richard LaFond, formerly of Hollywood, California where he was a still photographer for the Steve Allen Show in the mid-sixties. Richard shot for two other major television studios in Hollywood, for over a decade. From there he moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where he shot commercial, architectural, portraiture, and glamour photography for thirty years. Presently he and his wife Alice, are semi-retired and enjoying the Oregon Coast, a dream of theirs for many years. Richard shows his work at various galleries along the central coast of Oregon as well as taking on job assignments. He is a member of the Yaquina Art Association Photographers and recently served two years as president. His website is: LaFond Photography.com.
Carol Summers
Carol’s love of flowers, her interest in the energy of people and places, and her appreciation for ancient structures inspire her paintings. The medium of watercolor allows endless experiments in light, color and form.
In 2005 she began the adventure of watercolor and has taken classes in Florence, Oregon, with Susan Weathers, and at YAA in Newport, Oregon. A founding member of Yachats Arts Guild, she won the People’s Choice Award in 2010.
Her watercolor of stickleback fish hangs in the biology research center at Stanford. Her watercolors have been juried in to the Celebrate the Arts show at the Florence Event Center in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011. and in the Yaquina Arts annual show in 2009 and 2010. She is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon.
Carol enjoys playing handbells, being a library volunteer, and helping to staff the Runyan Gallery in Newport, Oregon, and staffing the Chloe, Nimela, Clark (Yaquina Arts Association) gallery at Nye Beach in Newport, Oregon, as a member of that group.
