Yaquina Art Gallery Pedestal Spotlight Show featuring the jewelry design of Calisse Browne – August 10th to August 23rd

YAA Spotlight

In a two week Pedestal Spotlight Show from August 10th to August 23rd, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the jewelry design of Calisse Browne. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 5 pm every day. Calisse Browne entered the metal smithing craft over five years ago by taking classes at the Denver School of Metal Arts and by training with other artists. She loves working metals, stones, glass, enamel, and gems into unique and beautiful pieces of art. It brings her joy to see someone wearing and enjoying a piece of jewelry that she created. She also enjoys reading about the metaphysical properties of stones and used to carry stones in her pockets to benefit from their properties. Now she enjoys wearing the art she made from stones. Calisse works with a number of mediums for her jewelry: silver, copper, precious metal silver clay, and enamel. The silver and copper is used for traditional metalsmith work; the precious metal silver clay is a fine silver product that is manipulated and fired in a kiln; the enamel is powdered glass that is melted on copper in a kiln; and a torch is used to fire paint (oxidize) copper.
