Yaquina Art Gallery Wall Spotlight Show featuring the artwork of Jennifer Lorre and Catherine Hingson – May 11th to May 24th

YAA Spotlight

In a two week Wall Spotlight Show from May 11th to May 24th, the Yaquina Art Association will be featuring the artwork of Jennifer Lorre and Catherine Hingson. The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located in Nye Beach at 789 NW Beach Drive. Hours of operation are 11 am to 4 pm every day.

Jennifer Lorre studied graphic design in Southern California in the early 90’s doing illustration work for bands and corporate collateral for tech companies.

Two years ago she sold everything in Cali not knowing her destination and hit the road with her dog Mazzy and cat Biggie in tow for a new start and new inspiration. Once she saw the Oregon Coast she fell in love. The plan worked instantly and was proven true by a body of work which was energized by the August 21, 2017 solar eclipse.

Vacillating between her passions for poetry and art she is focused on drawing and painting right now experimenting with the emotional connection art has to the human experience and life’s ever present challenge to eventually accept our losses and use the past in creative narratives to heal the soul.

Her style is abstract expressionism. Edward Munch being one of her favorite artist. Her childhood was influenced by the women in her life, her mother, both grandmothers, and great grandmother were all artists themselves. Because of that she always had a pencil and paper in hand and lots of art books to practice from. Currently she is drawn to an intuitive-style and the connection art has to actual earthly spaces and the energies they present artists.

Catherine Hingson has been painting for 30 years and been member of Yaquina Art Association for 5 years.

As a teacher and workshop instructor Hingson enjoys a free and easy style of painting that is appealing to all levels. Her next workshop, “Puffins” will be held May 25th 10am – 4pm, at the Artists’ Studio Association, go to www.asaart.net/classes to register. As a teacher she encourages her students to “Play! Let go of judgments about our work as we explore the medium, and enjoy the process.”

Catherine Hingson is a professional artist focusing on impressionistic landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, a place she has called home most of her life. She has a sensual nature of art depicting life through a combination of color, texture, and symbolism in her paintings. As a multi-media artist, Hingson has been known for her vivid and bold use of color in her impressionistic marine related scenes. She is also showing her art at the Pacific Artists’ Co-op Gallery in Lincoln City, and the Beachstone Gallery in Lincoln City.
