Peter O’Boyle featured in two week Artisan Spotlight
The Yaquina Art Association will feature the work of Peter O’Boyle in a two week spotlight beginning May 10-May 23. The gallery is located at 789 NW Beach Drive in the Nye Beach Turnaround in Newport Oregon and is open from 11-4 pm daily.
Peter O’Boyles work is an interpretation and response to his environmental and political understanding of life. Peter uses found objects to create esthetic reclamation. He invites the viewer to respond with an artistic and historic eye to the debris we pass in our environment daily. His art includes mixed media, paint, collage found objects, wood and metal. Peter has a gallery/studio adjacent to his home where he teaches small classes in drawing,l ceramics, pastels, colored pencil and watercolor. He grew up in New Mexico, living mostly in Albuquerque. Peter has his BA, MA and PhD in Art Education and started teaching on the Laguna Acoma Reservation. He has taught at the University of Arizona, Wright State University, Eastern Oregon State and Cal State Long Beach. He loves traveling and has visited most of the US as well as Europe and Mexico. He has artwork showing in the Viewpoint Art Gallery, the Ozone Art Gallery, the Visual Art Center and the Windemere Gallery.
