Yaquina Art Association Arts and Crafts Show
Yaquina Art Association is sponsoring an Arts and Crafts show from Friday, March 29-Sunday, March 31, 2013 with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. The sale will be in the Visual Art Center at 777 NW Beach Drive in Newport, Oregon at the Nye Beach Turnaround.
This is an annual sale of both framed and unframed art. As in previous years, there will be baked goods for sale as well as hot dogs and chili. One highlight for the children is the melted crayon images they get to create complimentary of the YAA.
This year they are adding a rummage sale of unwanted art supplies and art donated by past scholarship recipients as part of their scholarship requirements. There will many items donated by previous artists for sale as well as photographic equipment, old enlargers and other misc. equipment. Proceeds from the sale of the art works will be earmarked for the scholarship fund. This will be on the second floor of the VAC.
The purpose of the Yaquina Art Association “Shall be to teach and further the pursuit and appreciation of the visual arts and crafts in every possible way, and to exhibit and provide an outlet for the benefit of the association and membership, as well as the community, and not for the benefit of any individual.” The YAA will also have arts and crafts available for sale next door at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery located at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport. The YAA teaches classes regularly in the upstairs classroom of the Visual Art Center as follows: Monday: Watercolor 9-11 am, Tuesday Oil & Acrylic 9-11 am, China Painting 1-3:30 pm, Clay 12:30-3:30 pm, Wednesday Color pencil/drawing 9-11:30 am., Thursday Pastels 10 am to 12 noon.
