Featured Spotlight YAA Watercolor Class
The Yaquina Art Association will feature a spotlight show with the art from the YAA watercolor class. The show will be at the YAA gallery in Nye Beach (789 NW Beach Dr. at the Nye Beach Turnaround) in Newport, Oregon. The show will run from Feb. 1 through Feb. 10th, 2012. The newly repainted gallery is open from 11-4 daily.
The watercolor class meets weekly on Monday mornings from 9-11:00 am at the Visual Art Center. Many of the artists take turns sharing what they have learned to teach the class. There is no formal teacher and in this way the students learn from each other and have an opportunity to experience what many others have learned. There are approximately 22 members that meet weekly on projects of their choice. They then have an opportunity to share what they have painted with the class for an informal critique.
The primary purpose of the Yaquina Art Association is to teach and further the pursuit and appreciation of the visual arts and crafts in every possible way and to exhibit and provide an outlet for the benefit of the association and membership, as well as the community. Other classes taught through the Yaquna Art Association are Oils and Acrylics on Tues. from 9-11, China Painting on Tues. from 1-3:30, Clay on Tues. from 12:30-3:30, Color Pencil/drawing on Wed. from 9-11:30 and Pastels on Thurs. from 10 am to noon. Members of the community are invited to stop by and check out the classes offered at no charge to the community.
