Spotlight Show for YAA
There will an artisan spotlight featuring the art of Diana Perez-Moya at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery in Nye Beach from Oct. 19-28th, 2013. The gallery is open from 11 am to 4 pm daily.
Diana Perez-Moya loves bright colors, the air, the smell of the marine air and blooming flowers. She sees how everything in Nature goes back to life in many ways, everything in a perfect cycle. That is why upcycling became an important part of her art. She can take a broken mirror and use it as a canvas, any old piece of paper can hide a treasure. She says, “You never know until you really look for the possibilities.” Diana will be showing her oil painting on canvas, mirrors and paper, as well as acrylic on paper, glossies on mirrors and collage. She also loved doing pyrography, ceramic and jewelry.
When she was 13 years old she took her first oil painting class with the Spanish artist Pepe Garcia and continued taking his classes for many years. Diana has studied different art mediums at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. She took a seminar in Fashion Design at Casa Fabricato, also in Bogota, and continued her learning path after she arrived in the United States, when she took ceramic classes with Janet Wallace. She has taken some drawing classes at Yaquina Art Association after joining in January 2012. She is experimenting with glossies (a water based paint) on different surfaces.
Diana has been working at the Oregon Coast Communityh College for the past 12 years as an instructional assistant for the English as a Second Launguage class and as a non-credit Spanish teacher for the last year. She loves animals and volunteers at the Lincoln County Animal Shelter and Pick of the Litter Thrift Store.
