Two Week Spotlight Show with Luella Hartwell and Solveig Leslie
There will be a two week spotlight show at the Yaquina Art Association Gallery in Nye Beach with the art of Luella Hartwell and Solveig Leslie. Their show will run from May 18 to May 31, 2013. The show is located at 789 NW Beach Drive in Newport and is open from 11 am to 4 pm.
Luella Hartwell is inspired by the challenge of depicting in her art, the beauty of nature that she sees all around. She enjoys working from her own photos or working on location. She says the main reason she does art is an attempt to share, in a static form, the wonderful masterpieces created by the Master Artist. She will be showing watercolors, pastels and mixed media. Luella also enjoys sculpture and would like to do some larger, outdoor metal sculptures in the future.
Luella attended art classes at Portland Community College, Chemeketa Community College, and workshops given by Tony Couch, Judy Morris, Tom Allen, Jan Kunz and Harold Walkup. She belongs to Yaquina Art Association, and Artists Studio Association. She enjoys taking classes given by both of the associations to which she belongs. She is still challenging herself to keep doing art in spite of losing her eyesight to macular degeneration. She works with oil pastels, watercolrs and mixed media as well as hand building with clay.
